Access Technology enables adults and young children with a visual impairment to access and use a wide range of computers and software independently.

What examples of Access Technology are available?

There are many types of products that are available to help children with a visual impairment. Here are some examples:

  • Screen magnification software enables the visually impaired user to enlarge information that is displayed on the screen of a computer.
  • Screen reading software is used for a severely visually impaired person who needs computer files in audio format.
  • CCTV video magnifiers can be portable or used on a desktop to enlarge text and information which is on a moving platform by means of an auto-focusing camera.
