Our Aim
Our aim is to assist young visually impaired and blind people up to the age of 25, from low income families, in securing appropriate communication technology to meet the needs of their visual impairment.

Before Applying

There are a few basic rules you should consider before applying.

  • The applicant must be registered blind or partially sighted or eligible for registration. You will need to provide proof, copy of CIV/BD8 or letter from ophthalmologist.
  • The applicant must be between the ages of birth to 25 years
  • The application must be for reasons of education and social needs in the home.
  • The applicant’s visual impairment must be the primary reason for the application.
  • ICT Grant programme aims to assist those on lower income and your application will be measured against set criteria’s.
  • You must be able to provide proof of income, e.g. notice of entitlement/wage slip.

How the application process works

The application will initially be reviewed, check that you provided the relevant information, for example income documentation, supporting letter, quote etc. A copy of your application will be sent to the individual charities on your behalf.

An independent ICT assessment will be carried out to determine that the applicant is applying for the right equipment. Please note, the assessment is independent from the grant application and does not guarantee grant funding.

If the application is approved an order will be placed for the recommended equipment and sent to a delivery address supplied by you.  Once the goods have been delivered, you will be asked to sign a receipt and disclaimer.

We take great care to ensure that the applicant’s privacy and yours is safeguarded and protected. In respect of your application (and any further information and communication between you and us) all of the information you provide will be stored electronically or in paper form under appropriately secure conditions. We shall share this information only with those who are involved in processing and assessing this application, taking action on the outcome (including the supply of equipment or software) or otherwise involved with the project in accordance with Data Protection Act 1998.
