NBCS holiday home

The National Blind Children's Society runs two fully accessible mobile seaside holiday homes which are available to families for week-long breaks at a nominal charge. One is situated in the Victorian town of Burnham-on-Sea, Somerset, just a few miles from our head office in Highbridge, the other is five minutes from the centre of the attractive Merseyside resort of Southport.

Haven Burnham-on-Sea Holiday Village, Somerset

This modern, spacious and recently refurbished seaside holiday home has been specially designed and furnished to accommodate children and young adults who have visual difficulties.

Facilities at the holiday village, which is easily accessible by car, train or bus, include two heated swimming pools, kids’ clubs, go-karts and pedal bikes for hire, and pitch and putt. With on-site bakery, mini-market, gift shop and laundrette, all you need to bring is towels and bed linen. A few yards away is access to the glorious seven-mile stretch of sandy beach. Nearby attractions include Cheddar Gorge, Wookey Hole, Brean Leisure Park and Weston-super-Mare.

NBCS charges £50 for a week’s holiday for a family of up to six.

This home is available from March to October. Bookings start in the new year.

Riverside Holiday Park on Merseyside

This brand new, modern mobile home has been adapted for disabled use and access. It has a large living space, with dining area, kitchen, double bedroom with en-suite, a twin room, large shower room and a double bed in the living room.

Bed linen is provided.

At Riverside Holiday Park there is a range of family entertainment, kids’ clubs, arcades, a café, bars and lounges. There is a small shop on-site for essentials and fresh groceries.

With its historic pier, fair and amusement centre there is plenty to do in nearby Southport, including Splash World and a cinema.

NBCS charges £50 for a week’s holiday for a family of up to six.

This mobile home is available to book 50 weeks of the year, including Christmas and New Year. Booking starts annually on the first working day in January.
