Gift Aid
Gift Aid is an easy way to raise extra funds for National Blind Childrens Society with no extra cost to you. Listed below is a little more information about it.
What is Gift Aid?
Gift Aid allows charities to claim back the tax from sponsors or donors as income or capital gains tax. This means that National Blind Childrens Society can get an extra 28p from the government for every pound donated. In other words, for every £100 you raise National Blind Childrens Society can claim an extra £28 – if all of your sponsors choose to ‘Gift Aid’ their donation.
How does it work?
Anyone can make a Gift Aid donation as long as they are a UK tax payer and have paid enough income tax and or capital gains tax in that year to cover what the charity claims on your donations – therefore most employed people qualify. Once National Blind Childrens Society has received the donation we can reclaim the tax (that you have already paid) from the Inland Revenue. There is no additional cost to you!
How can I make it work?
All you have to do is make sure that any of your sponsors tick the Gift Aid box on your sponsorship form. Please ensure that your sponsors also fill in their full name, first line of their address and Postcode. We need this to validate the claim.
