Cosmic party

The National Blind Children’s Society’s Easter Party this year was held at the National Space Centre in Leicester, where 30 children with visual impairment and their families and carers had a day to remember.

The National Space Centre is home to the UK ’S largest planetarium. As well as enjoying the party fun the children learnt about planets, stars and rockets and were free to experience the excitement of discovery in the six interactive galleries.

NBCS organised two touch tours of the centre which proved very popular with the families.

At lunchtime a hot and cold buffet was provided. Some of the children had made splendid Easter bonnets and they paraded around the room to lots of applause from parents and staff. They were rewarded with Easter eggs for taking part.

Expert advice was available throughout the day from NBCS staff Wendy Sainsbury, Clive Matthews, Glenys Critchley, Hazel Russell and Sally Freeman.
