Children Benefit from Charity Golf Day

Wedmore Golf Day

Golfers from across the South West region are practising their swings for the National Blind Children’s Society annual golf day near Wedmore.

Among the teams teeing off will be the event’s main sponsor, NatWest, and the winners will carry off the Warwick Pugh Memorial Shield, presented in memory of the National Blind Children’s Society long-serving chairman.

Carolyn Fullard, chief executive of the National Blind Children’s Society, said: ‘We are delighted to be hosting this very enjoyable event again this year, and to see it fast becoming a highlight of the local golfing social calendar.

‘I particularly want to thank NatWest for supporting us once again. The National Blind Children’s Society depends totally on private funding, donations and events such as this enable us to continue our desperately needed work with children and young people who are visually impaired.’

There are still some places for teams of four players to enter the event on Wednesday 11 June at the Isle of Wedmore Golf Club. The fee of £240 per team includes green fees and all-day refreshments, including a three-course dinner.

The day starts at 11am and the evening’s entertainment includes an auction, raffle and prize-giving.
