Educational Advocacy:

Assessment for children under 2

Statements for children under 2 years of age are rare. If your child's particular condition or health problem has caused concern from a very early age, he/she may have been referred to the L.E.A for an assessment.

If a parent requests the assessment, then it must be carried out. This assessment does not need to follow the statutory procedures for children over 2 years. If a statement is issued, it is usually because of complex needs.

Educational assessments for children over 2 and under compulsory school age:

Early Years Action

If your child needs additional/different support to the usual provision, the S.E.N.C.O and class teacher will agree on interventions. You should be consulted with regard to any further action.

Early Years Action Plus

This Stage means that the school will seek outside help from other professionals/specialists in order to meet your child's needs.
