Pricing policy
The National Blind Childrens Society CustomEyes large print books are produced under the terms of a Copyright Licensing Agency licence and licensed copies are supplied based on the following pricing policy:
- Children and their parents and guardians may purchase the books for the cover price of the original print copy. A protective plastic cover for books is available for parents to buy at the cost of £3 for a pack of ten covers.
- Schools and organizations may purchase large print books from NBCS for 10p per page with a minimum price of the cover price of the book and a maximum of £50. The price therefore fluctuates with chosen font size and spacing etc. All books ordered by schools/VI services etc will be supplied with a protective plastic cover at no extra cost.
- Where a book requires significant additional work, for example, because of pictures, diagrams or scanning difficulties, NBCS will negotiate an additional charge as a contribution towards production costs.
- Carriage is charged at £2.50 per order.
- Parents are required to send payment with their order form. Books will only be sent to the child’s home address. Books will not be sent unless payment has been received in advance. Payment can also be made by credit/debit card. Please call 01278 764752 if you would like to use this method of payment.
- For schools and organisations, an invoice will be raised on despatch of the book(s), charging the quoted price, additional costs if applicable, and carriage. Invoices will be sent to the same address as your delivery of books. Invoices are payable within 30 days, by cheque made payable to NBCS. Please quote your invoice number when sending your payment.
- We have indicated an age range for each title. This is meant as a guide to help you choose books for your child.
CustomEyes Large Print Books are only available to members of the National Blind Childrens Society for the benefit of visually impaired children.
Titles marked 'Parental Guidance' may be considered unsuitable for young readers.
You may be interested to know that there is a web page at Revealweb.org.uk where you can find details of titles being produced in alternative formats i.e. Braille, tape and large print.
